Podcasting

Podcast on an Apple I-PodPodcasting is about creating content for an audience that wants to listen when they want, where they want, and how they want.

The term was coined in 2004 when the use of RSS syndication technologies became popular for distributing audio content for listening on mobile devices and personal computers. Essentially, a podcast is a web feed of audio or video files placed on the Internet for anyone to subscribe to. Podcasters' websites also may offer direct download of their files, but the subscription feed of automatically delivered new content is what distinguishes a podcast from a simple download or real-time streaming.

Most audio content is delivered in either MP3 or WMA formats - both highly compressed from the original - but with careful mixing and file conversion it is possible to create files that are very close to their uncompressed versions.

With our considerable experience of preparing compressed audio files for museum and exhibition audioguides we are ideally placed to advise you on creating audio content for Podcasting and we work closely with some of the top content producers in the UK.
