Reviews
Carolyn Kotok launches into Rachmaninov’s Second Sonata immediately proclaiming her technical confidence and love of Rachmaninov’s language. Passion and brilliance inhabit the outer movements while the central Lento is distinguished by graduations of dynamics and colouration of the melodic line. - Szymanowski’s Opus 1 Préludes are rarely heard as a set, but her championship of this composer shines through every bar. - Simon Weir’s production and Campbell Hughes’ sound engineering have captured the essence of impressionism in Kotok’s vivid interpretations (of Debussy’s Images) - a thoroughly enjoyable disc.
